My Bone Marrow Transplant

Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.

My name is Chris Boughton. I am 62 years old, Caucasian male, married with 4 children and 2 grandchildren living in the Philippines. I was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome in mid 2009 and treated in Hong Kong with 7 rounds of chemotherapy in 6 months. I relapsed in January 2011 and was given several doses of chemotherapy to maintain me while the hospital searched for a donor for me. Finally one was found in the USA, and I had a  Bone Marrow Transplant in Singapore General Hospital on 15 December 2011.

This blog is a record of before, during the transplant and the recovery process. I am now 1 year post transplant and doing well.
